your art
is not about how many people
like your work
your art
is about
if your heart likes your work
if your soul likes your work
it's about how honest
you are with yourself
and you
must never
trade honesty
for relatability

For the month of April, we are pleased to highlight writer, director, & creative producer in the narrative, music video, and commercial worlds. Erin Galey’s work explores soulful character-based stories, identity & empathy, the voice of the athlete, and wild natural spaces. Her narrative work features dynamic & rich female leads in nuanced genre stories. In the commercial space she loves uncovering what makes athletes tick, connecting audiences to the engine that drives greatness.
A graduate of NYU Tisch Grad Film, Erin studied under mentors like Ramon Menendez, Oliver Stone, Lesli-Linka Glatter (directing shadow, HBO), Shekhar Kapur, and Bobby Bukowski. Her thesis film Sahasi Chori (Brave Girl) premiered at SXSW, screened at 37 festivals worldwide (including the DGA), and garnered critical acclaim and awards like the Women In Film Directing Award, the Carl Lerner Award for a Film With Social Significance, and Best of Fest at Palm Springs. The film is available to stream on Apple TV, Google Play, and Vimeo On Demand.
In 2013 she founded production company FLICKER, and has since helmed brand & agency work as a Director & Creative Producer for clients like Carhartt, Nike, Project Rock, UFC, The North Face, National Geographic, adidas, Marriott, YouTube Music, ODESZA, Big Wild, and many more.
Erin is in development on her first feature film, SEE YOU SEE ME, a grounded sci-fi thriller set in the rustic helm of the Pacific Northwest. With it she attended BendFilm: Basecamp in 2024, Stowe Story Labs 2025 (Black List Fellowship Finalist), and was invited to pitch at the 2025 Cordillera PitchFest. It recently won the Sci-Fi Category in the Final Draft Big Break Competition, and was a second rounder at both the 2025 Austin Film Festival and the Sundance Development Track 2026.
In her spare time she loves to snowboard, trail run, cook, explore, and is learning how to play bass guitar.

Erin's project that we are sharing is her short film Sahasi Chori (Brave Girl).
A 13-year-old Nepali girl (Bhumika) leaves her Himalayan village seeking employment in the city with trusted friend Krishna, but becomes increasingly suspicious of his intentions when he asks her to cross the border with him to India. At a decisive crossroad, Bhumika must choose what she's willing to sacrifice for the good of both her family, and his.

Sahasi Chori was re-released last month on Apple TV, Google Play, and Vimeo On Demand as part of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
A note about Sahasi Chori from Erin: I'm still incredibly proud of this project; it actually blows my mind, the film – what an ambitious project it is, how unique it was as a co-production with our cast & colleagues in Nepal & India, and what an enormous effort was put forth from everyone involved. The story, which was inspired by true tales in the region I heard while on another project, seems to have touched and moved so many. I'm most proud of our cast & crew for their talent and contributions, and for the way the film has continued to help the young women it's about.
TRC/LOF: How do you envision your next five years as a filmmaker/artist?
After a successful decade in the brand and commercial world, I'm excited to be returning to my narrative roots with a new feature film I've got in development, and also to get back to writing. Life feels fulfilling when I'm creating, and I have a few projects in the pipeline I'm excited to turn my attention to. I also aim to direct some television and I'd love to direct prestige features.
TRC/LOF: What are you seeking when expanding your creative circle?
Fellow overachievers, inventors, and curious artists with passion, good taste, and only a relatively healthy fear of the unknown. I always love to chart a new path.
TRC/LOF: What are you currently working on? Can The Reel Champions community support you in any way (crew call, fundraising, film festival suggestions)
My feature script SEE YOU SEE ME just won the Final Draft Big Break Competition's Sci Fi/Thriller Category. I have a little seed funding to get development started (in an indie way) and I'm looking for a core producing team to help get to the next step before we go to casting. Ideally I'd like to hire a professional AD for a few days, and a local (to Oregon) line producer to budget the script with Oregon-based tax incentives. I'd welcome any introductions to indie producers who might want to participate in or supervise this initial process, with the option to stay on for the duration of the project. Ideally looking for producers with at least one top tier festival selection or win. Also would be very open to casting director suggestions.
