Last night The Reel Champions welcomed in the new year with a launch party filled with warm moments, exciting announcements and celebratory activities!
The Reel Champions is a female-led organization built specifically for women and non-binary filmmakers to support them in their career in the entertainment industry. The signature programs include NextGEN Mentorship Program that runs from March to December and TRC Short Fest happening annually in October.
Last night, many guests attended the event hosted at CFA House and they were welcomed by custom-made time capsule postcards. All attendees got a chance to write their future self a letter that they will receive in the mail later this year.

Many announcements were made throughout the night, along with fantastic speeches. Around 8 PM, Cinematography for Actors Co-Founder and Co-President, Haeleigh Royall kicked off the welcome speeches. The Reel Champions recently joined CFA’s non-profit umbrella, both teams shared in the excitement of expanding together and growing their impact.
Some of the additional announcements included welcoming Myrakel Baker and Pinar Binay as the new Co-Presidents of the organization. Additionally, Sydney Yockey announced her move to Festival Director for The Reel Champions Short Fest after an incredible four-and-a-half year run as the President of TRC. In another exciting transition, Pam Carbonero announced the incoming Head of Mentorship, Alex Porges, who is thrilled to be joining the board. And, finally, a new position has been added to the team: Alle Hsu will be joining The Reel Champions as Head of Filmmaker Relations.

The evening came to a close after hours of community building (with great company if we may say so), fun, food and drinks – huge shout out to Drink Little Sun for sponsoring and providing so many great drinks for the evening. Thank you to everyone who was able to join!
