Bow Street Academy LA Opens Fall Acting Classes

Overview

Bow Street Academy, Ireland's national screen acting school, is opening its September 2026 intake at its Los Angeles home in West Hollywood.

Courses at Bow Street are small by design and built around a working process of shoot, review, and refine. Every class caps at ten actors, and the curriculum is overseen by Gerry Grennell and taught only by practitioners certified in the Gerry Grennell Method.

The method centers on a philosophy the school calls "Ownership", a discipline built to free the actor from judgment and from the fear that shapes so much on-camera work. For filmmakers and directors, the same framework is offered from the other side of the camera.

Course Lineup

Intro to Screen Acting
12 weeks, part-time, once weekly. Built for actors new to the screen, or returning to training and looking to rebuild a reliable on-camera foundation.

The Art of Screen Acting: Foundation
12 weeks, part-time, once weekly. The foundations of the Grennell Method and the philosophy of Ownership.

The Art of Screen Acting: Intensive
12 weeks, part-time, twice weekly. Covers the foundations plus a deeper dive into the method, centered on the actor's autonomy and agency.

The Art of Screen Acting for Mature Actors
12 weeks, part-time, once weekly. The core pillars of the method in a dedicated environment for actors over 40.

The Art of Screen Acting for Teens
8 weeks, part-time, once weekly. The same core pillars in a space built for 13 to 17 year olds.

Workshops

Actor as Filmmaker
2 days, full-time. A practical process for actors who want to generate their own material. Bring a scene, a sketch, or the seed of an idea and build it out.

Directing Actors
5 days, full-time. Ownership for directors: guiding performance and learning the collaborative language of an actor's director.

All classes cap at 10 participants.
