This month’s session will explore the pilot episode of Hacks — the Emmy Award–winning HBO Max comedy written by Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky. The discussion will be led by Melody Jackson, founder and CEO of Smart Girls Productions. With a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies and a dissertation on The Mythic Impact of Film, Jackson brings deep insight into how timeless story patterns connect to the human heart.

In Hacks, stand-up legend Debra Vance (Jean Smart) teams up with a disgraced young comedy writer (Hannah Einbinder) in a sharp, layered exploration of ambition, aging, and the cost of reinvention in entertainment.
