Event Overview

Queer Film Collective is closing out its summer panel series with "Creating Change: The Role of Queer Filmmakers in Today's Political Landscape," a conversation exploring how storytelling can offer visibility, resistance, and representation as queer communities face increasing political attacks and cultural scrutiny.

The panel takes place Thursday, August 27th, from 11 AM–1 PM in the Community Room at First Entertainment Credit Union, with time reserved for audience Q&A. Food and networking follow the discussion.

Event Panelists

The event will be joined by an incredible group of panelists:

Fawzia Mirza — Award-winning filmmaker, director of The Queen of My Dreams and Hulu's Deli Boys; former White House Champion of Change for AAPI Art & Storytelling under the Obama administration.

Andria Wilson Mirza — Award-nominated producer and co-founder of Baby Daal Productions; leader in gender equity and LGBTQ+ representation in the screen industries.

Janet Chen (Ma) — Award-winning filmmaker, producer, educator, and documentary filmmaker whose work centers representation, resistance, and resilience.

João Dall'Stella — Brazilian writer, director, and producer whose genre-driven work explores identity, authenticity, and LGBTQ+ experience.
