Join filmmakers, industry leaders, and cinephiles at VisionFest 2025 — a day-long celebration of independent and non-dependent filmmaking featuring panels, screenings, and the prestigious Vision Award.

Hosted by Filmmakers Alliance in association with PCC Reel Women Film Festival, VisionFest 2025 marks over 25 years of celebrating creative freedom and the vibrant spirit of Los Angeles’ indie filmmaking community.

Sponsored by Pasadena City College Foundation, Blackmagic Design, First Entertainment Credit Union, League of Filmmakers, eoFlix, and Athletic Brewing Company, VisionFest will feature a full day of industry panels, networking, and world-class short film screenings — all culminating in the presentation of the Vision Award and the LA Short Film Grant.

3:00 PM – Reimagining Cinema: The NonDē Movement

With Ted Hope, Jon Stahl, Courtney Daniels, and Ellis J. Sutton
A discussion on how filmmakers are redefining the relationship between creators and audiences in a rapidly evolving industry.

4:00 PM – Camera Magic

With John Parenteau, Blackmagic Design
A look at how indie filmmakers can achieve cinematic imagery without breaking the bank.

5:00 PM – Distribution Now

With Ami Vora (Kinema), Linda Nelson (Indie Rights), Andrew Collins (eoFlix), and Tony Piantedosi (Vertical)
Experts discuss the future of indie film monetization and sustainable distribution strategies.

Awards & Screenings

Presentation of the Vision Award

This year’s Vision Award honors NEON Films, the studio behind the Oscar-winning Anora, for its bold storytelling and unwavering support of auteur filmmakers. Past recipients include Werner Herzog, Christine Vachon, and Ted Hope.

The LA Short Film Grant

Awarded to one emerging filmmaker with an exceptional script, the grant includes production services, equipment, post-production support, and cash to bring their vision to life.

This year’s finalists: Adrift, Without a Playbook, Please, Stay, Swipe Right, and Numina.

Following the awards, attendees will enjoy screenings of acclaimed short films — with all filmmakers present for brief Q&As — and a closing reception with food and drinks.
