About the Screenplay

Logline
An aging filmmaker writes a screenplay for his estranged TV-star daughter, hoping to repair their relationship—but she wants nothing to do with him.

Written by Joachim Trier and Eskil Vogt, Sentimental Value continues the duo’s exploration of memory, identity, and human connection. The film premiered at Cannes, winning the Grand Prix, and went on to receive 8 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

It also made history with four acting nominations for a primarily non-English language film and won Best International Feature at both the BAFTAs and the Academy Awards.

Participants are encouraged to read the script before watching the film, allowing for a clearer understanding of the writing on the page.
