At this year's NAB Show, Bosma has brought out their extensive CHIOPT lens line and has displayed them beautifully at NAB Show for audiences to see for themselves. Their main star is the Aura Prime lens line, showcased as a complete set with emphasis on a light-weight design, dependable and consistent quality, and seamless focus transitions. When I headed over to Bosma's booth, they also walked me through some of the main uses for each of their products, as well as the beginner friendly appeal of their lens. Bosma provides basic starter sets for those just starting out, while also being versatile and customizable for more experienced photographers.

There are three styles of CHIOPT lenses that were shown at NAB, all with specific areas of specialization.

Cinema Prime Lens

Also known as the Slasher Prime Lens on their site, these work best for when shooting a subject – things such as portraiture or macro-type photography. Users shooting new product lines will most likely utilize this set for high-quality resolution and performance. These lenses go from 24 mm to 100 mm.

Cinema Zoom Lens

Also called the Xtreme Zoom on their site, these macro lenses go from 28 to 85, or 75-250, and while quite big and hefty, the weight can help keep the camera stable for those close up shots.

Aura Prime Lens

These lenses are targeted more towards mirrorless cameras. Aluminum and lightweight, these lenses feature a fast T1.5 aperture, the Aura Prime lens bring versatility and clear softness to whatever shot you are aiming for, even in low-lighting. These go from 16 mm to 85 mm, and are priced at $900 each, and $4500 for the 5-lens kit. The Aura Prime lenses have been selling since 2025 and are available to purchase on their site.

An Appeal to Beginners

The Aura lenses are a good starting point for beginners because it is very neutral, meaning beginners who may not necessarily know their style yet have a good starting point as they figure out how they want to show their voice. The lens isn’t too sharp, and you won’t find any crazy flares on it either. This kit is a good way for beginners–those just learning how to use cinema lenses–to try out and learn the tech, see high quality results, and avoid having to drop too much money.
