Workshop Overview

Whether you're refining an existing feature screenplay or starting from a brand-new idea, Stupid Co's Summer 2026 Script Development Workshop offers a structured path from concept to completed draft.

Led by filmmaker and educator Anna Maguire, the program combines group workshops, individual feedback sessions, and dedicated writing time to help participants develop and complete a feature screenplay over the course of three months.

The workshop is intentionally small, with enrollment capped at eight writers, allowing for personalized mentorship and focused creative development.

What You'll Learn

Participants will work through the feature writing process from outline to final draft while receiving feedback from both peers and instructors.

The workshop includes:

  • Group development sessions
  • One-on-one and two-on-one feedback meetings
  • Guided script development exercises
  • Independent writing periods between classes
  • A structured roadmap toward completing a full feature screenplay

About Anna Maguire

Anna Maguire is a British-Canadian filmmaker, actor, educator, and mentor whose work has screened at festivals including TIFF, Sundance, SXSW, BFI London Film Festival, Fantasia, Palm Springs, MUBI Fest, and PÖFF Black Nights.

Her short films IT'S NOTHING and YOUR MOTHER AND I have earned festival recognition and critical acclaim, while her feature screenplay AN EMPTY SPACE was developed through Le Groupe Ouest's LIM program.

Most recently, Maguire collaborated with Kyle Greenberg through STUPID CO, and was awarded Telefilm's Talent to Watch Grant for her debut feature EXTERNAL NEIGHBOURS, currently in post-production.

In addition to filmmaking, Maguire teaches screenwriting at the University of London, Birkbeck, has lectured at Cambridge University, taught at LAMDA, and mentored emerging filmmakers through organizations including the BFI Future Film Academy and TIFF community outreach programs.
